Hello Mom,

I hope this letter finds you well, and I hope you have lived a good life thus far.

I returned to Korea last year (2017) for the first time. It was an amazing time. I felt so at "home." This is my second return to Korea, and I'm excited to return to the Eastern Social Welfare Services to leave this letter for you.

I grew up on a dairy farm. I also had dogs and rode horses. I played piano, trumpet and French horn. I graduated high school with honors. I attended university where I earned a business degree. I also earned a nursing degree and eventually a Master's degree in anesthesia. My husband is Ryan, and we have been married for almost 19 years. We have three beautiful children, Zoie (15), Seth (13), and Caleb (9). Zoie plays violin and runs cross country/track. Seth plays drums and plays soccer. Caleb loves all kinds of music and plays soccer. All three kids are in a Spanish Immersion school and are fluent in Spanish.

I'm writing this letter to say, "thank you." Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for doing the right thing. Thank you for allowing me to have a chance at a rich and abundant life. I want for nothing.

안녕하세요 엄마,

이 편지가 엄마에게 잘 전달 되었기를 바라고 지금까지 건강히 잘 지내셨기를 소망합니다.

저는 작년 (2017년도)에 처음으로 한국을 방문했습니다. 정말 귀한 시간이었고 마치 집으로 온듯한 느낌이었습니다. 이번이 저의 두번째 한국 방문이며 동방사회복지회로 이 편지를 전하러 다시 돌아올 수 있어서 기쁩니다.

저는 낙농장에서 자랐습니다. 강아지들도 키우고 말도 탔어요. 피아노, 트럼펫, 그리고 프렌치혼과 같은 악기들도 연주했어요. 고등학교도 좋은 성적으로 졸업하고 대학교에서 경영학을 공부했어요. 그리고 더 나아가 간호학위를 따고 마취사로 석사 과정을 마쳤어요. 결혼도 했어요. 남편의 이름은 라이언이고 19년동안 결혼생활을 하고 있답니다. 세명의 아름다운 자녀들도 있어요. 열다섯살의 조이와 열세살의 세스, 그리고 아홉살의 케일럽이에요. 조이는 바이올린을 하고 육상팀에 들어가 달리기를 해요. 세스는 드럼을 치고 축구를 좋아해요. 케일럽도 축구를 즐겨하며 음악이라면 뭐든 좋아해요. 세 아이들 모두 스페인 외국학교를 다니고 스페인어를 능숙하게 잘해요.

감사하다는 말을 전하기 위해 이 편지를 써요. 저에게 생명을 주셔서 감사해요. 옳은 선택을 해 주셔서 고맙습니다. 풍부한 삶을 살 수있는 기회를 주셔서 감사해요. 저는 더 이상 바라는게 없습니다. 부디 잘 지내시고 행복하고 건강 하시길 기도해요. 혹시 저를 만나고 싶으시다면 언제든지 연락주세요. 연락 안 하셔도 엄마를 이해합니다. 다시 한번 감사드려요,
