Mosaic Regional Tour for Adoptees

NORTHERN GYEONGSANG REGION: DAEGU & GYEONGSANGBUK-DO

October 12-17, 2026

This region-specific tour offers Korean adoptees with a connection to Northern Gyeongsang an opportunity to experience Korea by spending meaningful time in one region while engaging deeply with local culture, history, and community.

Whether you have never returned to Korea or have been back many times, this tour makes travel easier while also giving participants the chance to:

  • Join a region-specific Me & Korea experience with time to slow down and engage meaningfully with local land, history, and community.

  • Create a grounded connection to a specific place, rather than a broader Korean or Seoul-focused tour.

  • To honor the role of place and locality in adoption stories, whether connections to the region are known, partial, or still emerging.

  • Access some smaller cities in the area, many of which are difficult to reach with public transportation.

  • Develop a stronger sense of ‘hometown’ identity and belonging.

  • Search for their birth families in a supportive environment. Many families in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do have deep roots in their communities, often staying in the same region for generations. By working closely with local governments, communities, and media, we hope to provide valuable support for those searching for their Korean families.

Who’s it for?

Adoptees with a personal connection to Daegu / Gyeongsangbuk-do, including:

  • Those who were born, found, or lived in the region

  • Those whose mother or father is originally from the region

  • This tour is open to adoptees only.

  • Proof of regional connection through adoption documents is required.

Itinerary

The final itinerary, including which cities will be visited, will be determined after participants are confirmed. Programs will be tailored to participants’ personal connections to specific cities in the region.

Rates

  • Early Registration: $300 (non-refundable $100 deposit due by March 31)

  • Late Registration: $500 (based on availability)

  • Scheduled lodging, ground transportation, and meals in Korea are covered by Me & Korea. Roundtrip airfare to Seoul (Incheon International Airport), transportation to and from Daegu, as well as personal expenses and any accommodations outside the tour itinerary, are the responsibility of the participant.

Additional Info

  • Regional Tours differ from Mosaic Tours by focusing in depth on one region, rather than breadth across Korea.

  • Mosaic Tour alumni are welcome to register. You do not need to be an alumni in order to register.

  • This tour uses a simple registration process, not a long-form application.

Q: Who can apply to a Mosaic Regional Tour?

The essential requirement for applicants of the Mosaic Regional Tour is a connection to the selected region—whether they were born, found, lived there, or believe their family members are from the area. This information will be provided in writing at the time of application. Depending on the number of applications received, a selection process may be necessary. In that case, factors such as the applicant’s background and how they may benefit from the tour will be considered.

Q: If an adoptee was not accepted to the annual summer Mosaic Tour, could they apply for the Mosaic Regional Tour?

If you are not selected for the Mosaic Tour, adoptees may apply for a regional tour in the same year. Or, you may choose between the two options in a given year. For some participants, the regional tour may be a more suitable choice.

Q: Would the Mosaic Regional Tour offer birth family search assistance, similar to the summer Mosaic Tour?

Yes, we will provide assistance with birth family searches. We hope to work closely with local media and community networks, particularly in conducting local investigations.

Q: Is the Mosaic Regional Tour the same thing as the Mosaic Family tour?

No. The Mosaic Family tour allows family members of adoptees to join. The Mosaic Regional tour, like the summer Mosaic Tour, is open to Korean adoptees only.

Q: This sounds great! Where can I apply?

We’re so glad you’re excited! Stay tuned—applications for fall 2026 will be available soon.

Q: I’m not from this year’s region but am interested in future regional tours.

We hope to expand the Mosaic Regional tour to other regions such as Busan/Gyongnam, Choongchung, Gangwon, Jeolla, Incheon, and more! Future tour regions will be announced next year.
