The first ever memorial park for Korean adoptees was dedicated in September.
Omma Poom Events
In September, the Omma Poom Park was dedicated outside the city of Paju, Korea. The park is the first of its kind in the country — a memorial and public space that acknowledges adoptees and their birth families, and a common meeting place for adoptees and their families to visit, reflect, and share their experiences.
The park dedication events took place over several days from September 10-12, and included a conference at Seoul National University, a round table discussion with Korea Adoption Services, and add-on trips for participants to explore more of Korea.
As part of the dedication, adoptees from all over the world submitted photos and letters with personal messages, which were displayed at the park. Stay tuned, as we’ll share a full event recap soon!
